Great view of the capital!
Had an awesome time looking over the (de)renovated Capitol Building. Absolutely magnificent job in bringing the Capitol back to its 112 year past look. Beautiful. It wasn't nearly as crowded as we anticipated it might be. The only lag time was waiting to get a close up view of the gold-leaf statue. The guide told us that a mere 7 ounces of gold are incorporated in this beautiful statue. I've only been in Minnesota two years, and my friend that I was with today told me that he last visited the Capitol some 50 years ago - and at that time "heathens" had defaced areas on this beautiful art by etching their names/initials into the gold-leaf of the statue. We were not permitted to get that close to it today - so I hope this is now a common practice - and no longer will this beautiful piece be subjected to vandalism. I'm happy that this restoration occurred during Mark Dayton's term of service to Minnesota and will resonate with Minnesotan's as one of his many achievements for the state. Congratulations Governor!
