Cool place. Good service. Door staff were friendly. Servers were friendly and timely. Great place to see live music! Clown lounge downstairs is also a nifty little nook
So, to summarize...we were lied to, stolen from, and discriminated against by the staff.
One of the best mid-sized live music venues in the cities. Good drink selection, and great sound/mix. Get there early for a table or simply stand and enjoy better sightlines. The basement offers a nice reprieve from the music if you're looking to chat or take a break. I've seen many good shows from local to national, and it's always a good time. Free parking out back and light rail right out front.
We waited outside in -20 degree weather for a half hour. Then two of our friends who we were in line with, but stepped away for one minute, were let in. We were told to go back to the end of the line. Okay, fair enough... Then the door guy tells us the show is sold out. Meanwhile, the ticket guy sold my friends four tickets. However, he must have just pocketed the money because he only gave them three. When my friend came out to give us the tickets that she had just purchased, the door guy wouldn't take them because he said that they already had the stub part torn off... this was true... the ticket guy who sold them to my friends had already torn them off. When my friends tried to argue, the ticket guy threatened to kick my friends out. The door guy and ticket guy said it would be against fire code to let all four of us in.
Maybe my second fave place to see live music, after First Ave. Always a great crowd, and great staff (who sometimes even remember my name - always cool). BONUS ROUND! Food. And it's pretty good..
Classic venue, still has the charm of a 40s dive bar. Great sound system. Need the coat check open for winter shows. Process good, food supposed to be great but didn't eat there.
Then, CONVENIENTLY, four of the door guys friends show up. He said we could sell them our three tickets since there was no way the four of us could get in. (All this is despite the fact that we truly paid for four tickets and the door guy had told us that they, apparently, weren't valid anyway.) He then proceeded to let all FOUR of his friends in despite them only having the three tickets that we just sold to them. I guess fire code was no longer an issue???
