This small, independent used bookstore has been a neighborhood landmark for many years. Excellent for browsing. This was my go-to bookstore when I lived in St. Paul, and it's not much changed in the years since then.
This place is coool. I come in here on a regular basis just browse, but always end up finding something unique to bring home.
If you like used and period publications a great source. Downside is people who work there are pretty unfriendly. and the surrounding neighborhood is pretty sketchy.
We left before we could even see it because a man who identified himself as the owner was filming and kicking a group of homeless individuals out of the alcove next to the store. As they left we started talking to them, so they slowed down their hasty leaving to speak with us and the owner came back over and started to harrass them to leave again. We got back in our car and he came around the car and started to yell through the closed door at us about the homeless individuals "scaring off his customers". I opened my door and said (heatedly I will admit) that he had scared off his customers and that we were planning to spend money in his store. He continued and we had to ask him to step away from our car so we could leave.
Awesome place to spend time looking through all kinds of books and magazines.
Sales personal are extremely helpful. Parking in back of store, lite rail stop in front of store.
When your fears of lost profit overpower your humanity you have lost something essential about yourself. I have been to used and rare book stores around the country and most of them have welcoming and open attitudes to towards the homeless populations in thier cities. Most will put free books out in front for those who need them. I have never seen someone in a book store treat homeless individuals this poorly.
