i had a rental pickup at 11pm, they close at 11 pm. at 1050 there was noone at the counter. and now im getting a run around trying to get a refund.
I typically rent through another program but tried Advantage because they are in the terminal at MSP. The initial process of pickup was faster than any other non-loyalty car program I can recall. Most importantly, the staff clearly is committed to excellent customer service from pick up to drop off. I recommend using Advantage if you're in search of a car at MSP.
We rented a Standard SUV for 4 days, and we got a Toyota Sequoia. It was easy to rent, pick my vehicle, and when I brought it back, they just took they keys and off we went to the terminal to get on our flight back to Oregon. I was astonished by the customer service and the ease of not waiting for a receipt as it was emailed to me by the licence plate of the car we had. I will definitely rent from them again!
Their manager, Steve Lewis, is probably the worst person to go to for customer service help. Rather than being understanding and apologetic about the price discrepancy, all he did was condescendingly tell us that we had agreed to the conditions by signing the legally binding contract and that we should have read the documents and fine print more carefully before signing the papers if we wanted to avoid these problems.
Visited in November 2017. Krystal at the counter was extremely nice & helpful. They take both credit and debit cards (there is some red tape with debit cards). When I went to get my car, the attendant was super-nice as well. There was a woman who was having some personal issues, and he gave her something to drink. This was probably the best rental car experience ever!
Overall, I wouldn't have minded paying that extra $30 had we received more clarity beforehand and if Steve Lewis had showed even an ounce of understanding and compassion. I am much more disappointed in their lack of customer care than in their company policies as a whole, but I will never again be going to Advantage for any business of any sort. There are many other places to go to with much fairer prices, and I advise others to be very careful not to get screwed over by this money-hungry company.
Terrible customer service. The representatives there had no idea what they were doing. We were advertised unlimited miles through hotwire. However, upon arrival, the representative we talked to stated we would only be given 1000 free miles for our travels. That's fine, we figured we wouldn't need that many anyways. We ended up cutting our trip short by a day (4 days down to 3) and returned the car a day early. At checkout, our final cost for 3 days ended up being nearly $30 more than what our cost would have been for the originally planned 4 days. We had no idea why we were being charged so much and neither did the representative present, so we had to insist for them to call their manager. Apparently because we only had the car for 3 days, we were only given 250miles/day or 750miles for those 3 days rather than the 1000miles we thought we had. At no time during the initial process were we informed that mileage would be given on a daily basis. We were under the impression that we had a flat set of free miles.
